Episode 79 – Off-Season Review

Join the guys and special guest Joe Mauceri on the first podcast of 2011 as they look back at all of the off-season moves by the Black-adn-Red, including United’s draft picks and player moves. The guys also go over some other league news and briefly talk about the US Men’s National team draw with Chile at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.

    That’s awfully pessimistic for an off-season review. Might have to revoke your homer cards!

    Our biggest problems last year were finishing and that gaping hole in midfield. But remember, we weren’t embarrassingly bad, game to game — we just couldn’t score.

    So far this winter, we’ve seen great additions to midfield (Dax, primarily), additional defensive depth, and we’ve seen all the strikers swapped out. I’d say they’re doing a pretty good job of addressing the big issues. Add in just one good forward signing, and this team is very solid.

    The only possible downgrade is GK (I think there’s a good chance Troy returns to form) — but if the new-and-improved Hamid comes through and/or Cronin steps up, we should be fine there too.

    How can 2011 possibly be as bad or worse than last season?
