Trio Of Kickers Up For USL Second Division Honors

Richmond’s Leigh Cowlishaw, along with Robert Ssejjemba and Mike Burke, are up for USL Second Division honors. Cowlishaw, along with New Hampshire’s Sean Casey and Cincinnati’s Jon Pickup, has been nominated for coach of the year. Ssejjemba and Burke, meanwhile, have been nominated for the most valuable player award, as has Wilmington’s Chris Bagley.

DC United may have controlled last night’s match from start to finish, but they missed shots from nearly every conceivable angle and needed an extra time goal from substitute forward Jamil Walker to exact a 2-1 win over the Columbus Crew in the fourth round of the US Open Cup before an overflow crowd of 4,774 at the Maryland Soccerplex.
