As the ardor of the inauguration settles on Washington DC, many people feel the clarion call for change by the people and organizations throughout the land should be specifically upheld by DC United in the 2009 season. The dismal 2008 season left many of United’s fans curiously scratching their heads as they watched DC United enter the season as a changed team, only to nearly fail in all of its endeavors throughout the season.

DC United learned last week that it would play CD Guadalajara of Mexico on September 11th and October 4th in the Copa Nissan Sudamericana. This is the same club that managed to steal a victory against United 3-2 on aggregate in the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup earlier this spring.

Though the forwards have not scored goals in the last two weeks, they’re doing the necessary extra work off the ball, according to DC United coach Peter Nowak and Alecko Eskandarian, who played down his on-field run-in with Jaime Moreno during the team’s loss in Colorado. Nowak, meanwhile, is pleased to see Bryan Namoff’s return from injury. It’s something Namoff says still mystifies him, but he’s found a way to get through the pain and retake the field.
